Betfair UK Review

You may know Betfair as the largest online betting exchange, but did you know that they are one of the original UK online gambling sites? In business for nearly two decades, Betfair offers a huge collection of casino games from cards to slots and everything in between. Their modern design is unmatched and their promotions are tempting.

But there is more to an online casino than looks and with so much competition, there’s only one way to find out if Betfair deserves your hard-earned pounds. We signed up to Betfair to see if their play could get us to stay.

Betfair Bonuses and Promotions

Betfair Review New User Signup Bonus

New UK signups to Betfair are automatically given 30 free spins to try out their slots. The spins are released over three days (ten per day) and the winnings are capped at £30.

Users are also given two options for their welcome bonus. You can choose from a 100% match bonus on up to £100 on all games or a 100% match bonus of up to £1000 on slots plus 10 free spins. Be aware, however, that you need to wager your initial deposit and bonus 45 times for the first option and 30 times for the second option before you will be allowed to cash out.

Betfair has some great bonuses for new players, but that doesn’t mean they forget about their regulars. Betfair constantly adds new promotions and offers that existing users can take advantage of. These include additional deposit matching bonuses and regular special promotions.

Betfair also has a loyalty program where comps are awarded every time you wager a specific amount. These comps can be traded in for cash, which has no wagering requirement.

Games and Software

Betfair Review of Games Selection

Betfair’s casino uses Playtech’s gaming software. Playtech is the largest online game producer and Betfair does not lack for options despite using only one distributor.

Known for their large catalog of slot games, Betfair offers users every gaming option, tons of themes, countless minimum bets, and essentially anything else a fruit machine fan might be looking for. They have more than 100 slots to keep you busy, and enough bonuses to tempt even the most particular players.

If table games are more your speed, the over 50 games that Betfair casino offers include roulette, blackjack, poker, and dice games like craps. These games offer excellent graphics that are sharp and run smoothly.

One feature we really enjoyed on Betfair was their Zero Lounge. On this part of the site, you can play roulette on a wheel that doesn’t have a zero, removing the house advantage.

Finally, Betfair’s live casino options feature roulette in many varieties including Pearl, Pheonix, Aphrodite, and Vesta. Their blackjack options are just are strong. Keep in mind, however, that some live games are not always available, but there is always a live game to be played.

Supported Countries

Betfair is based in Malta and the company holds gambling licenses in the UK, the USA, Gibralter, Malta, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Denmark, and Australia. While the platform supports many countries, there are several from which you will be unable to play. These include France, Greece, Germany, Israel, China, Japan, Canada, and Mexico.

Safety and Payouts

Betfair uses a two-step authentication process to ensure that your account is being accessed by only you. Users will be asked to enter a one-time code for every new device they use. This level of security is something that everyone should look for and emulate.

The casino servers are physically secured with biometrics, guards, and cameras, in addition to firewalls, intrusion detection, traffic analysis, and encryption. Despite these safety standards, Betfair has seen its share of trouble, including questionable ethics, low integrity, and bet voiding.

A casino is only as strong as the manner in which they provide users with their winnings and our experience in this regard was not promising.

Opening and funding an account on Betfair was quick and easy, so we expected that we would be able to withdraw funds with the same ease. Unfortunately, despite their advertising about the speed of their withdrawals, we were made to constantly jump through hoops in an attempt to simply get our money.

We were told that we were attempting to withdraw too little cash at one point and that the problem could be resolved if we would just add more money to our account. This kind of tactic generally represents a red flag in our view.

Banking Options at Betfair UK

Betfair casino supports online payment and eWallet options including Neteller, Skrill, Web Money, and PayPal. You can also opt for classic payment methods like bank transfer and credit card.

Withdrawing money to your debit or credit card takes a maximum of three days. Bank to bank transfers in the UK can come as early as the new working day. Online payments are the quickest, with a maximum 24-hour wait. Finally, you can opt to have Betfair mail you a cheque, which can take up to 30 (!) working days.

Customer Service and Support

Betfair Review VIP Benefits

We contacted customer support for our very serious withdrawal problem and we were transferred to an advisor who disappointingly was less-than helpful. We thought it bizarre that they were willing to argue with us about such an insignificant amount and were left wondering how they handled clients with more at stake.

Betfair does not have an on-site live chat, rather they rely on a contact form which takes several hours to hear back from. Their telephone line, which we recommend for serious issues, if your better bet.

VIP players get their own account managers who ensure that their needs are met. To enjoy this benefit you have to receive an invitation, but no indication of how this is done is provided on the Betfair casino website.

We signed up to Betfair expecting great things and the we really enjoyed playing their wide array of games. The unexpected withdrawal issues put a damper on our overall experience, however, and because of this we can only recommend you proceed with a certain degree of caution.
